Research Funding Opportunities

BeWonderNow, Inc. Pilot Grant Program

BeWonderNow, Inc. provides pilot funding to support innovative, early-phase brain cancer research that addresses critical gaps in knowledge and advances the development of new treatment strategies.

Our goal is to empower physician-scientists and researchers to generate preliminary data that supports future federal or industry funding and accelerates progress toward meaningful treatment advances for patients and families affected by brain cancer.

Projects supported through this program should represent innovative, early-phase research with strong scientific rationale and the potential to advance discovery in meaningful ways.

Funding Overview

Award Amounts: $25,000–$150,000 (direct costs)
Indirect Costs: Indirect costs are allowed up to 10% of direct costs. This rate is non-negotiable.
Project Duration: Typically 12–24 months

Funding through BeWonderNow, Inc. is intended to support pilot-stage research that:
• Generates preliminary data
• Addresses important gaps in knowledge
• Demonstrates strong potential for future federal or industry funding
• Advances innovative treatment strategies for brain cancerTypically 12–24 months

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants must be affiliated with an accredited academic, medical, or research institution within the United States
  • The applicant institution must be able to administer grant funds and provide appropriate oversight
  • Proposed research must focus on innovative, early-phase brain cancer research aligned with the mission of BeWonderNow, Inc.
  • Projects should demonstrate the potential to generate preliminary data that supports future funding opportunities

Letter of Intent (LOI) Requirement

All applicants are required to submit a Letter of Intent (LOI) prior to submission of a full proposal.

The LOI process allows the BeWonderNow Board of Directors to evaluate whether the proposed research aligns with the mission and funding priorities of the foundation before requesting a full application.

Letters of Intent must be limited to one (1) page.

LOI instructions

Required Components of the Letter of Intent

The LOI should include the following elements:

  • Project Title and a clear description of the proposed research project
  • Summary of Specific Aims, outlining the primary objectives
  • Overview of Methodology, providing a high-level description of the approach
  • Key Personnel and Expertise, demonstrating qualifications and feasibility
  • Significance of the Proposal, including the knowledge gap or unmet need addressed
  • Alignment with Mission, describing how the research supports the goals of BeWonderNow, Inc.
  • Estimated Budget and Timeline, including anticipated funding request and project duration

LOI Review Process

Letters of Intent are reviewed by the BeWonderNow, Inc. Board of Directors, a multidisciplinary group of physician-scientists and researchers.

LOIs are evaluated based on:

  • Alignment with the mission of BeWonderNow, Inc.
  • Innovation and scientific merit
  • Feasibility of the proposed approach
  • Significance of the research question
  • Potential to generate meaningful preliminary data

Applicants will be notified within five (5) business days regarding whether they are invited to submit a full proposal.

If an LOI is not selected to move forward, feedback will be provided outlining areas for improvement.

  • Acknowledgement of AI statement (requires e-signature)
  • Proposal – maximum 5 pages (may include optional appendix for figures)

  • Project Performance Site Document
  • NIH biosketch for all key personnel
